Vertex Tax System Engineer (Software Engineer, SMTS)

This Senior Member of Technical Staff role is focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise tax solutions using Vertex, with integration architecture responsibilities across Finance, ERP, Billing, and Revenue platforms. You will lead end-to-end implementation and enhancement of Vertex O Series tax calculation engines, configure tax rules, jurisdictions, exemptions, and reporting, and design integrations between Vertex and ERP, Billing, and Revenue Recognition systems. The role requires defining tax data flows, transaction mapping, and reconciliation controls, troubleshooting tax calculation discrepancies, and ensuring audit readiness and SOX compliance. You will also define integration standards including API contracts, error handling frameworks, and monitoring strategies, and drive performance optimization across high-volume transaction environments. Deep expertise in indirect tax domains including Sales and Use Tax, VAT, GST, and cross-border taxation, combined with experience in integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or Informatica, is essential.
