Senior Purchasing Engineer

This Senior Purchasing Engineer role in Chennai is responsible for direct material sourcing from an approved supply base to support Emerson''s MEA factories. You will manage the full procurement cycle — from issuing RFQs and placing purchase orders in Oracle to expediting deliveries and conducting periodic supplier visits and milestone reviews. The role involves maintaining and updating part parameters such as lead times and safety stock levels, ensuring timely supplier payments, and communicating performance reports to key vendors. You will also support inventory management goals, ensure compliance with trade regulations and Fisher procedures during new supplier onboarding, and maintain a technically competent and cost-competitive supply base. Knowledge of casting, machining, and valve components is an advantage. Cross-functional collaboration with planners, project managers, quality, assembly, and operations teams is a core part of this role, as is adherence to HSE standards and safety protocols.
