Android Engineer
As an Android Engineer at Barclays within the Customer Digital and Data team, you will design, develop, and deliver high-quality, performant, and maintainable Android applications for Barclays UK mobile platforms. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, architects, and QA teams to deliver end-to-end customer journey solutions. Your responsibilities include writing clean, testable code using modern Android development standards with Kotlin and/or Java, participating in code reviews, and promoting engineering best practices. You will apply secure coding principles to protect customer data and comply with regulatory requirements, and implement unit, integration, and UI tests to ensure application quality and stability. The role requires supporting production applications through debugging, monitoring, and issue resolution, and staying current with Android platform updates and mobile technology trends. Experience building consumer-facing mobile applications at scale, integrating with RESTful APIs, and working in Agile/Scrum environments is expected. Exposure to performance optimization, memory management, accessibility, and secure mobile development in regulated environments is highly valued.
