Engineer- JAVA Backend Developer
Join Barclays as a Java Backend Developer within the Customer Digital and Data business area. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving software solutions that power digital offerings for millions of customers. Your day-to-day work involves building scalable backend services using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot, designing and implementing RESTful APIs, and working with relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration aligned with business objectives. Writing high-quality, maintainable code with a focus on performance optimization is central to the role. You are expected to follow secure coding practices and implement comprehensive unit testing using frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, and mutation testing tools.
Additionally, you will leverage observability tools such as Elastic/Kibana for debugging and monitoring, participate actively in code reviews, and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Agile/Scrum methodologies is highly valued. This is a permanent position based in Pune, India.
