Corporate Bank OR SME
As a Corporate Bank Operational Risk SME at Barclays, you will provide independent review and challenge of operational risk elements across the corporate banking business. You will be responsible for risk identification and proactive risk management, identifying interconnected, horizon, and emerging risks to help the business understand, manage, and mitigate risks in line with strategy and objectives.
Your key responsibilities include analysing operational risk data to identify trends, patterns, and emerging risks. You will conduct risk-based analysis of business processes, systems, and controls to assess the likelihood and impact of identified risks. Ongoing research and monitoring of internal and external sources for potential operational risks is central to this role.
You will oversee, review, and challenge first-line activities including Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), Risk Events, and Issues, attending key risk and control meetings with associated reporting to ensure they accurately reflect the business risk position. You will provide risk-based second-line input into first-line projects, initiatives, and strategic decision-making.
To succeed, you should have experience in corporate banking business, product, or operations, preferably with a risk management background. A strategic mindset with the ability to assess emerging and industry risks is important, along with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent stakeholder management capabilities. Familiarity with data analytics and visualization tools is a plus.
